In 1850 the Methodist Episcopal Church of Caneadea was incorporated. This sprung from Methodist class meetings that were held in the homes of the settlers under the direction of a devoted Christian, itinerant preacher. These meetings brought forth the faithful and devoted Christians that saw fit to build a church building in the town of Caneadea.

Construction of the present church was begun in the 1850’s.  The men of the church and town helped in building the church, just as they have in every improvement since.

The building has undergone many changes over the years ranging from raising the entire church to add a basement and extra Sunday School classrooms as well as a dining space, to keeping things neat with paint and new carpet.

Presently, we are a diverse group of people in age and background representing several communities. Some raised their families here. Others have come seeking a small-town atmosphere where they can experience God’s love in community.

We hope that your life will be blessed in the way that thousands of lives have through the ministry of the Caneadea United Methodist Church!
